next to your lonely grave, my love
i shall rest in endless rain;
the ground so soft beside you,
as it was there in your bed....
my longing for you shall never end.
you were supposed to wait for me!
instead our last embrace was there
in the midst of a cold winter's day
flakes of snow melting against your face,
lashes framing eyes of perfection,
brushing the intrusive snow away;
your kisses burning like a summers day,
our heat keeping the winter away.
you were everything my lovers now cannot be-
the only one to hold any power over me;
you held power over Nature, herself!
alas, Death in her selfishness
wanted you for her own....
my warmth in winter's night
transformed into the frozen landscape
as it is in everyone else's life.
and now, no other love can touch me,
all lacking in your charm and beauty....
my dearest Muse, so fast asleep;
so lovely, that Mother Nature weeps....

it is a dim lit world, this;
a glistening waterfall of abandon
you and i, we twist and writhe
as you sink beneath me
such adoration in blasphemy
the throes of pain that now haunt my body
are truly everlasting....do you not weep?
i work alone deep into these quiet nights
white snow of silence, a soft glitter
in the window of my eyes...
and still, you do not weep.
your thoughts are no longer of me
ever shining fear of what could have been
my tears for you shall not abend
the anger of what could be will not see an end.

you are as if in a dream
i am so afraid,
but what my fear is of
i cannot explain...
there are others, so many
attempting to lure me with promises
entice me with anything
their chatter and lies
grate at my ears
'til i feel i might die...
we are two souls drifting
closer, then further away
you, with anger and determination
leading your way
me, with hopelessness and laughter
always tearing me away....
i want to bear my soul to you
but i'm fearful of what i might say
all of those i've loved,
not one was nearly strong enough
to stay.....
please, stay.....
i know if i don't get close to you
i'll never have the chance
to drive you away....
people are like the stars
so many, brightening, dying....
and all the while, i'm crying.....
are we more like the planets
gravity pushing and pulling us apart?
is there that much more to us,
or are our souls that far?
perhaps truly, we are only
brightening, dying stars....
and that moment will come
when you look into my eyes....
i wonder then if you will only see something
you will soon come to despise....
my life forever filled with lies....
the unknown is what attracts me,
yet in every person lies their own beauty
if only we can open our eyes to see.....
that beauty is what will keep me....

dripping
