Daddy
Daddy, I don't care if I have no shoes to wear
And without toys, I still find things to do.
It's when you get mad Daddy, this I cannot bear
You're like a stranger Daddy, this cannot be you.
When you hit me, it hurts me more than twice
The sting of your hand Daddy, bruises me so bad.
But I love you Daddy, even when you aren't too nice
When you smile again Daddy, I will be so glad.
You really don't want to hurt me; I'm your little girl
That's what you tell me when things are going right.
But it seems like I am not your little pearl,
Every time, when you and Mommy have a fight.
You and Mommy, Daddy, and Me, we make it three
Just the three of us against the whole world and its all.
I'm not a whole third yet Daddy, but someday I will be,
So love me Daddy, don't let this third fall.

THE MIRROR
Please Father Time… quit knocking at my door
And calling me, so very late at night
'Cause then I'm up, walking the floor
Just you and me, no one else in sight.
You're looking good for all of your years
How you can do that? I sure wish I knew.
You stand there before me and you shed no tears
How you can do that! I have not a clue.
You stand there and stare… as do I
But I! feel an eeriness and chill in the air.
As we stand here with one another, I see why,
Why it seems that you! Just don't care.
You do!! care and care a lot, I see
For the billions of faces you've met.
In your face now, I can see me
For the lack of tears I have now no regret.
Now you're smiling, and it's truly real,
The blackness of death has turned to blue.
In death there's no loss, now I feel,
For in passing on, I become part of you.
